Ernest “Doyle” Patterson

Ernest “Doyle” Patterson is a 1979 graduate of Kashmere High School. He was a two sport student-athlete in football and basketball for the Rams. He was a three year varsity letterman both in football and basketball. As quarterback in football he was All District as a junior and All Greater Houston his senior season. In basketball he was All District and All Greater Houston as a junior and senior. He was MVP in the Greater Houston All Star Basketball game in 1979.

Ernest earned a scholarship to New Mexico State and was former Kashmere coach Weldon Drew’s first recruit as a head coach. He is 4th in career assists and 12th in career scoring. He averaged 12.9 pts/g, 3.5 rebound/g, and 3.4 assist/g over his four year career. Doyle is also a member of their 1980’s “All Decade Team”. He was drafted 6th round by the Chicago Bulls in the 1983 draft and played professional for 14 years in Brazil and became an area legend. Ernest has recently earned his Master Degree.
